Thank my filthy socks ~ cause its not my fault for not washing them ~ for todays little knitting lesson. It’s such a cheesy lesson you probably all know this and will think I am a doof for not figureing it out sooner. OK I did figure it out sooner but it took about a decade so sue me already. How to fix the CBOB aka Circular bind off blip. And before I begin let me mention the How to fix the Flat knitting Bind off wings. Thanks to Knitters magazine in all its banality, and really this tip from them came after they became bird cage lining fodder, many knitters use the handy dandy knit into row below of last stitch trick which offends me because worse than the wing, which knock knock will be hidden in a seam anyway hello is the messing up of a color or texture pattern. Of course for plain st st or something of that ilk no biggie. Til then try Elka’s flat knitting wing eraser. Only $9.99 oh wait nope its BO in usual manner until there are 2 sts left on left hand needle and one st on right needle. Work the last 2 sts on left hand needle and pass 2nd then 3rd st over one at a time, cut yarn, thread through last loop. NO more wingies. OK back to today’s lesson and I really didn’t notice I was giving everybody the finger til after I took the pictures and there were no more left hand fingers undone for demo purposes;
Circular Knitting Bind Off Blip:
See that loverly gap between first and last bound off stitch? And the apparent difference in height? Ok your gonna duplicate stich over air. Thread your needle with the yarn end after pulling it through last stitch and create a stitch in the gap. First run the yarn under both strands of base of first bound off stitch V. Here’s a fuzzy picture cause it really is hard to take pictures of your own hands close up:
Now you are gonna run the thread into center of last stitch bound off:
Your gonna have some honking huge stitch there so your gonna want to tighten yarn and I usually repeat again then weave in my ends. Here’s a picture of the HHS:
And here is a shot of the finished no longer CBOB area:
There you go. One cheesy tip that you all probably knew anyway. Have a great day everybody!
