Many years ago I ‘met’ Lisa Souza of Lisa Souza Knitwear and Dyeworks through a yahoo group. One of her colorways: Wild Things captured my attention and it was highlighted in a pattern by Judy Sumner called Hourglass Ribbed Socks. The pattern was a simple knit purl affair available only in kit form and I couldn’t resist purchasing it. I believe this was way back in 2007 so quite a while ago. I fairly quickly balled up the hank and then it sat in my basket waiting my needles. Fast forward to July when I was invited to a girls day crafting. I found the pattern, the yarn was already wound, and I started knitting. And stopped. Come August I was invited to another girls day crafting but couldn’t find my pattern so took another project which was oddly dissatisfying. I combed the house for my Hourglass Pattern and found it only to lose it while running about visiting Drs’ offices.
Hey guys Lisa Souza is a total gem. The pattern is no longer available on her website, nor is it available on Ravelry, so I was quite upset. Thankfully Lisa remembered my purchase and sent me out another copy. The yarn is a delight. The color way is less deep and dark than I expected but provided enough interest to keep my attention. Honestly I am rather amazed by how much I wanted to see what little flash of color would appear next. And the pattern itself was easy to follow, execute, memorize, and keep track of repeats etc. I really love my new socks.
The above picture best shows the color and the following is to show stitch pattern but is slightly overexposed:
