Stonington Shawl designed by Elizabeth Zimmerman is blocking as I type. I would show you a picture but heathered gray doesn’t photograph well on a navy and cream check. Will take pix and upload asap~probably for tomorrow’s post. The yarn is a mystery…the cone is stamped Jaggerspun but the actual paper sticker with yarn type/color/dye lot/weight has been torn. I *think* its Heather in the 2/8 weight. My shawl weighs 9.7 oz and I have 6.6 oz left includeing cone weight. I used 4.5mm Addi Naturas so size 7? The pattern calls for 16 oz of shetland jumper weight if I am remembering correctly so am now wondering if I should be lucky enough to eek out the Faux Russian Stole from GOL which I think calls for 8 oz out of this cone. Should I try my luck? Either that or a buncha scarves. What would you do?

Stonington Shawl Progress Report
I was very dismayed last night to realize that I had picked up an extra stitch on my 4th border for EZ’s Stonington Shawl. I ripped out and restarted making sure to count carefully. Alas I am still a stich over what I should have and cannot figure out where I am picking it up. Clever me~boss of my knitting~ k2tog along a corner and am now ready to start attaching the edging. Wanna see? Sure you do:
TTFN knitbuds. Yarny days and knitterly evenings to you :^>
First FO Of The Year
Here we have a beach bag knit up for K1C2 out of their Second Time Cotton~ a favorite cotton yarn. I am not sure I did it right but then I am not a bag knitter generally speaking. I have knit itsy bitsy beaded silk bags before but this is an entirely different breed of bag. The picture does not do it justice. Anyway its way late since Helene was out of town when I had a Q so that slowed me down a week and then I really have not felt much like knitting it. I hope its correctly done cause I am so not wanting to fuss over it any more.
The WIP that has seduced me is Stonington Shawl. I wonder if it qualifies as my Shetland Shawl along project. It is EZ’s take on the Shetland shawl construction so I guess so. Yipieeeee one knitalong almost complete. Not really. I am starting the 4th trapezoid border section and then the edging. Have you ever noticed that the edging of any shawl takes an absurdly long time to knit? I always get to the edging portion and then think I will have gobs of yarn left over and a short time left in the knitting. Not that I am in any hurry but I am always surprised.
OK enough inane late night babbling. Have a great yarny day and knitterly evening :^>
2005 Goals
The fabulous Ms Prudence asked about the goals for the year. I actually have two so there is a 50/50 shot of my making them. And really I am being soooo easy on myself. I am adopting Nannette’s wonderful Stash Reduction Goal {SRG} instead of outright LINT-ing it this year. I think I can do it :^> I also have official permission to adopt her SRG and I have asked Mama Liz to puh~lease set it up for me on the sidebar with easy to understand instructions on updating. I think the easy to understand instructions on updating are holding her up a bit. Either that or her knee. The other goal involves a picture:
I have actually been working on this goal for the past month….namely to downsize the coned yarn stash{CYS.} The top down ala Walker, Stonington Shawl ala EZ, and the Shetland Tea Shawl from GOL all share the common characteristic of being worked from CYS. I took the picture while I was working on Pretty in Pink last month. I also took a few minutes to weigh my CYS on my bathroom scale{which made me out to be fatter than I was when I was preggers 2 yrs ago and hasn’t been recalibrated} and the box didn’t begin fit on the surface. The total with box and cones was 48LBS. If Liz does manage to set up the handy dandy SRG area I will weigh the FO’s on a postal scale so we can have an accurate tally at end of year. I am also harrassing her to change my gallary thumbnails into 2004 and 2005 FO’s instead of Me, Work and Other gallaries. I am a demanding friend. Anyway stay tuned for exciting SRG and CYS reports!
