It’s Thursday

Have you ever woken up on the wrong side of the bed? Such an odd phrase. And not exactly accurate but the closest I’ve got to work with. Yesterday I woke up not the least bit rested. Worse I felt creaky and old. My joints ached for heaven’s sake! It was horrid and I am glad yesterday is behind me.

I have hesitated showing you this project cause I am still wrestling with the instructions. Its the sweater I told you about last week that I had misgivings about…. the one I wanted the designers model to compare. Here is the loverly designers model:

This sweater is constructed in a slightly unusual manner. You begin by knitting 2 triangles and then join them working a chevron in center to push out the sides and fill in center so its no longer shirtail hemmed but strait hemmed. I am also working a different version–one with a shaped waist. Here is my sweater so far:
Image220.jpg
As you can see the bottom hem is still not strait and it is a bit nervewracking knitting thinking something is wrong. And the shaping? I am at underarm depth which seems a bit high waisted to me. Maybe its I’m old and saggy. Elka does not wear empire shaped thingies ;^>

Speaking of short waisted[as in next to none] I watched What not to Wear the other weekend. Stacey was giving advice and said something to the effect that we want to get as close to Barbie as we could-it being the female ideal. Which reminds me of[totally non knitting here] the fact that Barbie is now FAT. Yes fat not phatt. What you didnt’ know this already? After decades of promoting a female ideal impossible to obtain Mattel has put out the My Scene Barbie. I bought some. I actually reserved Madison for me since I rather like her. I think she looks latina. Anyway the point of all this Barbie talk is my kids won’t play with Barbie anymore. They stated quite emphatically that Barbie was fat and stood her next to the My Scenes, which are even more slender, as proof. Egads! At least the My Scenes are also less amply endowed up top so maybe the waifs can measure up without resorting to too much cosmetic surgery and becoming well known for it as well.

Putzing Around

I think something is wrong with the pattern for Alchemy and am now waiting for the designer’s model to compare what I am getting to what she got. I am taking this time to putz around. To tide you over a shot of the knit up Lickety Split fabric:
Image195.jpg
By and by I think the yarn is impossible to capture on film. One thing my husband and I noticed when we started taking pictures for ebay was that multicolored yarn or a hodgepodge of different colored yarns seemed to confuse the camera. It really is very pretty. OK TTFN knitbuds.

New Project

I finished my tam last night. After washing it and placing it on a plate atop cup contraption I foolishly put it outside to dry. One of those romantic fresh air drying notions. How could I forget dew? Its soggity. OK soaked. So instead of the Midnight Tam FO to show today I have New Yarn. Not for me new yarn but work yarn. Lickety Split from Alchemy in Fire and Air colorway. I took 6 pictures and couldn’t quite capture the gorgeousness but here she is:

Underneath you see the pattern and beginnings of sweater. Stay tuned for exciting Lickety Split knit up shots. Til then…

A great yarny day to you

Newish Yarn

OK so I asked Alchemy Yarns if they wouldn’t mind sending me some of that red/orange yarn I had used to make the cowl my way. Leftovers you know and any partial ball in the blue or green range for kiddie cowls. Of Course I expected the costs to be deducted from my pay. Leftovers only because a hank would easily make 3 or 4 cowls and I didn’t want to have Gina, the dyer, sit down to fill an order for moi when there were shops keeping her busy. Lookie what she sent:

The blue is a bit more white smokey based:

Now I have enough Promise to make shawls for each girl instead of cowls. What a treat!

On the subject of yarn I have relisted the stuff that was listed before the darned SBC folks decided we couldn’t have internet connection at both places. Feel free to scope it out and look for more as I unpack my boxes. Ya its getting a bit chilly in mornings and evenings here in midwest and the heavier weight yarns I had listed are looking more appealing but poot I was already emotionally destashed.

Lastly another shot of the scarf. I am incapable of laying it out with all the edges strait as can be. Maybe it does need blocking of some sort?

Have a great yarny day you guys
